Undergraduate · Into a Japanese degree via EJU + on-campus exam

This is the main route for high-school graduates aiming straight for a four-year Japanese bachelor's degree (学部). Instead of a home-country national exam, you apply through tracks like the 私費外国人留学生特別入試 using your EJU (Examination for Japanese University Admission) scores plus each university's own on-campus exam — document screening combined with a 小論文, 面接, subject test, or oral exam. Unlike the language-school route, where you first go to Japan to build up your Japanese, this path is centered on exams and school selection, with prep reverse-planned around three timelines: language-school entry terms, the two annual EJU sittings, and each university's application window. For mainland Chinese applicants, EJU is not currently offered on the mainland, so in practice most go to Japan first (often via a language school) and sit it in-country. After earning the degree you can move on to a master's via 大学院, or switch to a work status of residence after graduation.
